Day 129

May 9, 2017 – Another Haunted House Listing.

Srsly, dood, I have no clue what to make of this one.

Slightly haunted. Nothing serious, though, e.g. the sounds of phantom footsteps, a strange knocking sound followed by a very quiet (hardly noticeable, even) scream at 3:13am, maybe once or twice a week, twice a week tops. The occasional ghastly visage lurking behind you in the bathroom mirror. Even still, this occurs very rarely and only in the second floor bathroom.

Day 128

May 8, 2017 – Weird House Listing

Personally, I think this sounds like The Old Marsten Place that the vampire, Kurt Barlow bought in Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot.

Please read carefully before scheduling showings. May not qualify for financing. Great “diamond in the rough” investment property or primary home needing separate apartments. Little is known about condition except that property has active roof leaks. Property is being sold “as-is” with no repairs, no clean-up, and no warranties expressed or implied. Upstairs apartment cannot be shown under any circumstances. Buyer assumes responsibility for the month-to-month tenancy in the upstairs apartment. Occupant has never paid, and no security deposit is being held, but there is a lease in place (Yes, it does not make sense, please don’t bother asking.).

Day 127

May 7, 2017 When you think back to your childhood, what moment first comes to mind?

When I was seven, my dad purchased his first brand new car. To christen it, our family took a driving vacation to Texas. My mother had planned everything weeks a head of time, but when we arrived at the hotel, they had our reservation down for the following day, and there were no rooms available. We went to several different places, but always the same answer. No Room at the Inn.

So, we slept in the car. Dad, Mom, my sister, her husband, their year old daughter, my older brother, my twin, Cathy and me. Dad, Mom, and my brother slept sitting up in the front seat. My sister and brother-in-law wedged themselves together on the back seat, my baby niece slept on the back dash, above her parents, Cathy and I curled up on either side of the hump in the back seat floor.

Still to this day, we talk and laugh about it. Even as nightmarish as that first night was, we all think of it as our favorite family outing.

Day 126

May 6, 2017 What would your perfect world be like?

Everyone would have enough room in their house for everyone who lives there. Enough money to pay their bills, enough left over for doing fun things with the family, enough in case of emergency, like the car needs new tires, or the washing machine quits and has to be replaced. Everyone has enough food to eat, enough clothes and shoes that are weather appropriate, the list goes on and on.

Enough – that would be my perfect world.

Day 125

May 5, 2017 Write some interesting facts about yourself.

  1. I still live in the same town where I was born, I’ve never lived anywhere else.
  2. I work for the hospital where I was born.
  3. I have never been without a job for the past forty years.
  4. I have an unnatural predilection for red cars. The first car I bought at age 17 was bright red and I continued to buy red cars right up to the car I’m driving now. It is blue, and was too good a deal to pass up. I love it, even if it isn’t red.

Day 124

May 4, 2017 What is your view on religion?

Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet. Religiion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich. Napoleon Bonaparte

If Jesus came back and saw what was being one in His name, He’d never stop throwing up. Woody Allen

Before I start, let me make this perfectly clear. I’m speaking directly to organized religion, not how an individual interprets and practices their own beliefs and and life choices.

I do believe in a God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. I do believe that we’re supposed to love and take care of each other, treat others the way we wish to be treated.

However, I do not attend a church, to not identify myself with any denomination, and feel that organized religion is a scam to take people’s money, and rule them by fear.

Day 123

May 3, 2017 Write about high school.

High school was a pretty good time. I had a tight group of friends, we were the polite kids that teachers liked, I made good grades and didn’t get in trouble. By the time I finished my junior year, I had met all my required courses, so my senior year was all elective classes, so I took every class the English department had to offer.

This summer will be 40 years since I graduated and I still keep in daily contact with three of my good friends from school.
